The Çatalköy–Esentepe Municipality (Çatalköy–Esentepe Belediyesi) held the 7th International Vunous Symposium on fired clay in the Vunous area on Tuesday evening. The event was attended by artists, academics, and ceramics enthusiasts from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Turkey, Sweden, Italy, France, Russia, and the USA.

The symposium workshops took place from September 1 to 16. After the practical sessions, a large exhibition was opened on September 14, featuring participants’ works and demonstration programs.

Çatalköy–Esentepe Mayor Ceyhun Kıroğ noted at the opening that "Vunous has become a cultural brand of our country" and reminded that the symposium has been held since 2017. Kıroğ announced plans to create an open-air museum in Vunous, where exhibits will be displayed year-round and interactive events held.

Event coordinator Rauf Ersenal explained that the area used as the venue was covered with construction debris in 2011 and was cleared and restored to its current state in 2017. According to him, the organizers aim for the site to be used for cultural heritage exchange and visitor engagement throughout the year.

The evening program included musical performances and a torch show, concluding with a fire dance performance.
