Nightclub Administrator Found Dead in North Cyprus
A 25-year-old woman working as an administrator at Prenses nightclub in North Cyprus has been found dead, with preliminary findings suggesting she took her own life.
According to a police statement, Anastasia Melega, 25, was discovered in a room at Prenses nightclub in Alayköy, where she had been staying. The initial investigation indicates that she may have died by suicide, and authorities are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death.
This is not the first time Prenses nightclub has made headlines. In late December, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the club’s entrance.
The tragedy has also sparked outrage in the TRNC Parliament. Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Doğuş Derya called for the immediate closure of all such establishments.
"A woman, a victim of sex slavery, has been found dead. Nightclubs must be shut down immediately," she stated.
Derya further alleged that “sexual slavery has been practiced in the TRNC for 25 years.” According to her, young women—some under the age of 18—are brought into the country under student visas and then forced to work in nightclubs. She also pointed out that online platforms exist featuring directories of nightclubs in Cyprus.
