Arıklı: “We are upgrading the road infrastructure across the country step by step”

Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı inspected the progress of repair works on the route to the new Central Prison in Haspolat.
According to Arıklı, with the support of Türkiye and local resources, the TRNC road network is being modernised step by step, making roads safer and more comfortable.
Completed sections – the two-way section of the Nicosia–Famagusta highway from the Hamitköy roundabout to the Değirmenlik junction has been repaired. Around 4,500 tons of asphalt were used, and road markings were applied for safety.
Road to the prison and Hala Sultan Mosque – out of 4.2 km between the Central Prison and Hala Sultan Mosque, 2.6 km have been opened. 13,000 tons of PMT and 6,000 tons of asphalt were used. Works continue on the remaining 1.6 km (industrial area entrance).
Arıklı thanked Türkiye and the General Directorate of Highways: “Their equipment and expertise make our roads more durable.” He was accompanied by Director of the Highways Department Kazım Kafaoğlu.
