Tourism in the TRNC Reaches Over 1.8 Million Visitors in 2024
Tourism in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has shown significant growth in 2024, with the number of international visitors surpassing 1.8 million since the start of the year.
According to data from the General Directorate of Police, the number of tourists visiting the TRNC has increased by 18.6% compared to 2023.
Visitors from Turkey continue to dominate the tourism market in the TRNC, with a remarkable 22.3% rise in arrivals this year. Additionally, there has been a notable increase in travelers from several European countries, marking a diversification in the tourism market.
In particular, overnight stays by tourists from Norway skyrocketed by an impressive 502.4%, while visitors from Belgium increased by 443.8%. These sharp rises have contributed to the broadening of the TRNC’s appeal among European travelers.
Conversely, the number of visitors from the United States dropped by 22.5%, and arrivals from Israel declined by 18.3%.
While overall movement across the land border checkpoints remained consistent, crossings from the Republic of Cyprus into the TRNC decreased by 5.8%.
When it comes to top countries of origin, Turkey remains in the lead, followed by the United Kingdom in second place, and Germany securing third. Israel and Russia rank fourth and fifth, respectively, with Norway, Belgium, and the United States trailing behind.
