CTP and AKEL agreed to establish a Joint Sports Working Group
The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL) agreed to create a "Joint Sports Working Group" following a meeting of the sports committees held at the CTP district office building in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. The publication is dated December 17, 2025.
During the meeting, representatives of both parties confirmed the need for cooperation in the sports sphere as a platform for strengthening interaction between communities and fostering empathy. They discussed organizing joint sports events and initiatives that could bring the population of Cyprus together.
CTP and AKEL agreed to establish the Joint Sports Working Group as part of a previously adopted decision to form joint working groups. The first meeting of this working group is reported to be scheduled in the near future.
