TRNC Roads to Appear on Google
Over the past weekend, a protocol was signed for the inclusion of TRNC roads on Google platforms. They will be featured on Google Street, Google Earth, and Google Maps.
The document was signed by the Minister of Public Works and Transport of the TRNC, Erhan Arikli, and the director of Fact Innovation and Technologies Ltd, Sadi Yolgecen.
- The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has taken an important step to become more visible on the international stage and enhance its promotion. The country's roads will become accessible worldwide through special coverage on Google Street, Google Earth, and Google Maps," stated Erhan Arikli following the signing.
According to the document, major roads, divided roads, and roads within district boundaries will be scanned by a special vehicle and camera, and the collected data will be transmitted to the network. The gathered data will be published on Google platforms.
According to the minister, the main goal of the project is to "increase the visibility of the country on the international stage by providing a detailed representation of the infrastructure, transportation network, and geographical structure of Northern Cyprus to millions of users worldwide."
- This project will offer the opportunity to introduce a broader audience to the tourist and economic potential of our country. By showcasing our country's roads through Google platforms, we will provide significant convenience to potential visitors and investors," stated the minister.
