Two teachers' unions will go on strike today in Northern Cyprus
The Union of Turkish Cypriot Teachers (KTÖS) and the Union of Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers (KTOEÖS) will hold a protest today in front of the Ministry of Education. The strike will begin at 14:00.
According to the joint statement of the unions, teachers "will fight against corruption, bribery, incompetence, and prejudice."
The joint statement of the unions also states that the country is shaken by incidents involving ministers, deputies, or officials almost every day, and newspaper headlines are adorned with numerous criminal incidents involving retired military personnel and ordinary citizens.
"The Union of Turkish Cypriot Teachers (KTÖS) and the Union of Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers (KTOEÖS) continue to oppose the corruption, bribery, incompetence, and prejudice that are being normalized in our country," the statement said.
