Ertuğruloğlu: Recognition of the TRNC will take time, but it is inevitable

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu stated that the world is undergoing a transformation, and in the new world order the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will definitely take its place. "The world is changing, taking on a new form — and in this system the TRNC will receive what it deserves," he emphasized.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ertuğruloğlu received a delegation of the Union of Turkish Press of Hamburg (HTBB), headed by Ahmet Durmuş, who arrived at the invitation of the Foreign Press Union. The meeting was attended by MFA department director general Beniz Kaymak, Union President Burhan Canbaz and his colleagues. The minister informed journalists about the Cyprus issue and answered questions.
Commenting on the change in EU policy on Cyprus, Ertuğruloğlu replied: "The EU takes unanimous decisions, but it has lost the ability to correct the mistake on Cyprus. To do this, a common decision is needed, and it is impossible due to the Greek Cypriot and Greek veto. For us, the EU is nothing more than a Greek Cypriot organization."
Answering questions about a two-state solution, the minister said: "The current situation is the solution. There are two states, two nations, two peoples, two democracies, two sovereignties on Cyprus."
Recognition of the TRNC will take time, but there is no doubt that it is inevitable. "The world is in the process of change. President Erdoğan’s words 'The world is bigger than five' are very meaningful. In the new order the TRNC will take its place. Maybe I won’t see it, but the state will be recognized. The Turkish state is patient," Ertuğruloğlu concluded.
