Dates from the public beach of Iskele have been harvested — they will be distributed on November 15
The Iskele Municipality in Northern Cyprus has completed the collection of dates from the public beach and announced plans to distribute them to residents on November 15, Republic Day.
Maintenance and pruning of date palms on the public beach were carried out by municipal teams. The harvested fruits have been placed in a designated area for ripening.
The municipality stated that once the ripening process is complete, the dates will be distributed free of charge in locations accessible to the public. This is an annual initiative of the Iskele administration: for seven years, the fruits from the beach have been given to residents, and this year the tradition continues for the eighth time.
Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu emphasized in a statement related to the event that such actions strengthen the sense of solidarity and unity. He added that the Iskele Municipality intends to continue including the distribution of dates in the Republic Day celebration program to share the harvest with residents and visitors.
