TRNC General Assembly Convenes for Extraordinary Session Today
The General Assembly of the TRNC Parliament will hold an extraordinary session today to address several important legislative proposals.
The session is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. The agenda includes bills on the implementation of the intelligent transportation systems project between the Turkish and TRNC governments, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of construction between the Turkish and TRNC governments. It also includes the additional budget for the Supreme Council of Radio and Television for the 2024 fiscal year.
The General Assembly will also discuss a bill concerning the Association of Turkish Cypriot Realtors, as well as amendments to bills on housing acquisition, medals and awards, foreigners and immigration, and a proposal to amend the law on offenses.
Additionally, the session will include a third reading of the resolution on the internal regulations of the Assembly of the Republic. The session will also include a report from the parliamentary research committee regarding the investigation into the accuracy of data from the Statistical Institute.
Notably, the TRNC Parliament's General Assemblyheld its last regular session of the legislative year on Tuesday, June 25. Since yesterday, deputies have been on recess. During the third legislative year, parliamentariansapproved 97 laws.
