«Heyecan Park»: the largest extreme sports center will be built in Northern Cyprus
The municipality of Degirmenlik–Akıncılar has presented the large-scale Heyecan Park project, which will become the largest complex for technical and extreme sports in the republic. The park is being constructed entirely with the municipality’s own funds and will occupy a 303,000-square-meter plot along the road between the villages of Akıncılar and Kırklar.
The project has been developed in accordance with International Automobile Federation (FIA) standards and aims to solve a long-standing problem — transferring street and dangerous racing to a professional and safe environment. The new center is expected not only to serve as a sports venue but also as an important element in preventing traffic accidents and risky behavior on the roads.
According to the presented plan, the first phase of construction is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026. It includes:
- a race track 1,250 meters long and 42 meters wide;
- an investment of 85 million Turkish lira;
- infrastructure for hosting official competitions.
After completion, the complex will feature stands for 1,800 spectators, extensive parking areas including VIP parking, as well as pedestrian and recreational spaces.
The mayor of the municipality, Ali Karavezirler, emphasized that Heyecan Park is conceived as a multifunctional public space:
“It will not only be a race track, but also a modern leisure area where families, youth, and visitors to the region can come.”
Heyecan Park will cover almost the entire spectrum of technical and extreme disciplines, including:
- drag racing and drifting,
- motocross,
- quad bike tracks,
- BMX cycling,
- radio-controlled model competitions.
Additionally, the center plans to host driver training courses and road safety educational areas, giving the project significant social importance.
MP Sami Özuslu, who attended the presentation, noted that such local government initiatives shape a new vector in the country’s sports policy, addressing the acute shortage of modern and certified training facilities.
