Foreign Staffordshire Attacks Two-Year-Old Girl at Fini Waterfall in Limassol
On September 1, 2025, in the Limassol area near the Fini waterfall, an American Staffordshire attacked a two-year-old girl, local media reported. The child sustained leg injuries and underwent surgery; her life is not in danger.
According to Sigmalive, after the incident, a 24-year-old woman — the dog's owner — was detained by the police. The Veterinary Department took the animal for examination to determine whether it was aggressive. Philenews notes that the dog had no leash, but it is reported that the animal has a microchip.
Media reports also indicate that the American Staffordshire breed shares common ancestors with the Pit Bull and bears several similarities to them.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this means increased caution: watch children near recreational areas, do not allow toddlers near unfamiliar dogs, and ensure compliance with walking rules (leash, muzzle where required). Authorities remind the public that aggressive animals can be reported to the police and the Veterinary Department for prompt action.
