Incident in Famagusta: experts carried out a controlled detonation of a suspicious object.

In the Surici district of Famagusta in Northern Cyprus, police carried out a controlled detonation of a suspicious object found near a residential building. The incident caused concern among local residents, but according to official reports, there were no casualties.
After receiving the report, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialists arrived on site, cordoned off the area, and conducted an operation to neutralize the discovered object. The device was destroyed using a controlled charge for safety purposes.
Law enforcement agencies have initiated an investigation to determine the origin and purpose of the object. At present, the theory of involvement in criminal activity has not been confirmed, though the investigation considers all possible scenarios.
The police urge citizens to remain cautious and report any suspicious items to emergency services without attempting to touch or move them themselves.
