İskele Establishes Sister City Partnership with Yenişehir, Turkey
İskele has officially formed a sister city partnership with the Yenişehir district in Turkey, marking Yenişehir as the 11th sister city of İskele in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The "Sister City Protocol," signed yesterday during a ceremony in İskele, aims to deepen ties between the two municipalities. The agreement focuses on strengthening relationships, enhancing dialogue, and fostering mutual exchange of ideas.
The protocol was signed by Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Mayor of İskele, and Abdullah Özyiğit, Mayor of Mersin-Yenişehir.
Mayor Sadıkoğlu expressed that the friendship between İskele and Yenişehir has longstanding roots. He noted that with the signing of this protocol, their bond and cooperation would only grow stronger.
İskele’s other sister cities include Büyükçekmece, Beykoz, and Pendik in Istanbul; Mamak in Ankara; Kütahya; Samsun; Finike in Antalya; Ortahisar in Trabzon; and Uçhisar.
