"The Cyprus Issue" Added to School Curriculum in Turkey
Turkey's new educational curriculum now includes "The Cyprus Issue," which will be taught in philosophy classes for senior high school students.
The publication "Kıbrıs Postası" highlighted the incorporation of "The Cyprus Issue" into the updated curriculum, as announced on the official website of the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
Under the curriculum titled "Turkey's Education Model for the 21st Century," students in the 10th and 11th grades will delve into the Cyprus issue during philosophy lessons.
The objective of this new educational initiative is to equip students with the skills to craft philosophical texts on legal matters. Students will engage with research on international law issues and examine sample news articles covering the Cyprus problem.
To facilitate an understanding of the legal principles governing rights and freedoms, students will have access to various resources, including animations, short films, documentaries, presentations, and sample texts elucidating the historical evolution of human rights.
The Cyprus conflict entails a dispute between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, as well as Turkey, regarding the state and territorial organization of the island of Cyprus.
