Security Forces Command and Red Crescent Sign Blood Donation Protocol
The Security Forces Command (GKK) and the Turkish Red Crescent of Cyprus have signed a Blood Donation Protocol to help meet the increasing demand for blood.
The protocol was signed by GKK Commander Major General İlker Görgülü and President of the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent, Sezai Sezen.
The agreement aims to promote blood donation and raise public awareness by encouraging active participation from military personnel within the GKK.
As part of the initiative, training sessions will be organized before donation events to educate participants on the importance of regular blood donation.
“These training programs will help expand military personnel’s involvement in blood donation, taking a strategic step toward addressing the country's urgent and ever-growing need for blood,” the statement reads.
The announcement also emphasizes that voluntary, unpaid, and regular blood donations to the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent play a crucial role in saving hundreds of lives each year.
Earlier reports revealed that 240 blood donation drives were organized across Northern Cyprus in 2024, collecting a total of 5,193 units of blood from donors.
