Minimum Wage Commission in Northern Cyprus convenes to discuss 2026
In Northern Cyprus, under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the first meeting of the Minimum Wage Commission for 2026 took place. The session was held on December 26, 2025, with registration and opening noted at 10:05 AM in the ministry's meeting hall.
Participants included the Minister of Labor and Social Security Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, the workers' representative — Chairman of the Hur-Iş Trade Union Federation Ahmet Serdaroğlu, and the employers' representative — Cengiz Alp from the Turkish Cypriot Employers' Union.
The minister stated that the first meeting is held with representatives of both sides, and subsequent conclusions and decisions regarding the minimum wage level will be communicated to the public after the negotiations are completed. The session is conducted in a closed format, not open to the press.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this means that discussions on the minimum wage level for 2026 are underway; final decisions and official clarifications will be published after the commission completes its work.
