Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell Launches 'Movement for Life' Initiative
Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell has announced the launch of the community initiative 'Yaşam İçin Hareket' (Movement for Life), aimed at fostering a culture of active living and improving public health in Northern Cyprus.
The first meeting of project participants took place at the company's head office. The discussion was attended by representatives of sports federations, clubs, and medical institutions, including the Kıbrıs Türk Futbol Federasyonu, KKTC Milli Olimpiyat Komitesi, the Sports Federation for People with Disabilities, as well as representatives from private sports organizations and Kolan British Hospital.
As noted by the company's Brand Communications Director, Özlem Kavaz Soykan, physical inactivity remains one of the key risks to public health. According to the World Health Organization, about a quarter of adults worldwide do not get enough physical activity, and sedentary levels among children and youth continue to rise.
The initiative aims to create an awareness platform that will allow people of all ages to incorporate movement into their daily lives.
The project will begin in April with a large-scale public march designed to draw attention to the problem of a sedentary lifestyle. Throughout the year, a series of events aimed at popularizing sports and active leisure are planned.
Deputy General Manager Deniz Mungan reported that the program will further deepen through specialized projects for individual sports. The company has also begun technical development of digital solutions that will encourage and reward users for physical activity.
The company's General Manager, Murat Küçüközdemir, emphasized that technology should be seen not only as a means of communication but also as a tool for positive social change. According to him, Cyprus's favorable climate and sporting potential create conditions for forming a sustainable culture of movement through the effective use of existing resources and technological capabilities.
