Mayor of Çatalköy Criticizes the State of Çatalköy–Girne Road

Ceyhun Kırok, the Mayor of Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality, has criticized the central government regarding the poor condition of the Çatalköy–Girne road.
According to him, while the municipality continuously works to ensure that roads under its responsibility meet high standards, the section of the road managed by the central authorities remains in an unsatisfactory state.
Kırok noted that local authorities are doing their job and modernizing roads, whereas the government, in his view, is offering excuses instead of solving the problem.
The Mayor also raised several questions for the authorities, including:
- whether the issue with the Electricity Authority has been resolved;
- whether utility poles will be moved from the highway;
- what the status is regarding the second stage of the road project from Çatalköy to Final Üniversitesi.
According to Kırok, it is unacceptable for a major road in one of the country's primary tourist regions to remain in such a condition.
