Minister Arıklı met with the CEO of ULAK — discussed communication modernization and digital projects in TRNC
On September 9, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı received in the ministry the CEO of ULAK Haberleşme A.Ş., Ruşen Kömürcü. The meeting focused on strengthening communication infrastructure and possible joint implementation of digital solutions in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
According to the ministry, Arıklı expressed his intention to use in the TRNC solutions developed in Turkey and noted the potential for cooperation in areas such as optimization of 4.5G and 5G coverage, creation of 5G infrastructure, implementation of intelligent transport systems, digital transformation of public institutions, and enhancement of border security. The minister emphasized the desire to turn these opportunities into concrete projects with tangible benefits for the population.
ULAK CEO Ruşen Kömürcü stated that the company is ready to offer technologies for optimizing 4.5G/5G coverage, smart transport solutions, and SD-WAN to improve the efficiency of digital public services. The release did not specify concrete implementation timelines, investment volumes, or financing models.
For TRNC residents, this may eventually mean improved mobile coverage and connection speeds, development of traffic management systems, and acceleration of government digitalization. Specific stages and schedules will be known after official announcements and possible tenders.
