Man Detained on Two Charges: Illegal Residence and Violation of Animal Welfare Rules
In the TRNC, Zafar Saparov appeared before the court, accused of illegal residence in the country and violating animal welfare legislation.
According to police, in May last year, information was received that in the Şehit Haşim Street area of Nicosia, the suspect left a pit bull (crossbreed) dog unattended, causing concern among local residents. Correspondence was held with the municipality and veterinary services regarding this matter.
In November, the veterinary service imposed an administrative fine of 102,404 Turkish Liras, but the fine was not paid within the specified 30-day period.
When the suspect was summoned to the Nicosia police investigation department to be charged, a migration status check revealed he had been in the country illegally for 86 days.
The man, a citizen of Turkmenistan, was arrested on two charges. The court ordered him to be held in custody for up to 10 days.
