A man arrested for sexual assault and rape of a 13-year-old girl in the Demirhan district has appeared in court again.
Police reported that on 12 March 2025, the suspect sexually assaulted his girlfriend's daughter, a girl born in 2012, in the car he was driving.
The police stated that the man sexually assaulted and raped the girl in the car when they drove onto the main road in Balikesir.
The incident was reported on 17 June 2025, and the suspect was arrested for investigation on the same day.
However, the suspect denied the allegations in his oral testimony and stated that he had always met with the girl and her mother.
To investigate the allegations against the suspect, the city's CCTV cameras, perimeter CCTV cameras, and mobile phones will be checked. The police reported that the investigation is ongoing.
The police demanded that the suspect, who is in the country on a student visa, be granted appropriate bail.
The police also stated that they had taken a statement from the complainant's friend.
Judge Nuray Nedzet, who assessed the testimony presented to him, ruled to prohibit the suspect from travelling abroad, require him to appear in court once a week, pay a cash guarantee of 100,000 Turkish lira, and also required two guarantors to sign a guarantee of 800,000 Turkish lira each.
