Flu cases rising in Northern Cyprus: emergency departments overloaded
Winter is only just gaining momentum, but hospitals in Cyprus are already operating under increased strain. Dozens of patients with Influenza A are admitted to emergency departments every day — the situation is particularly severe in Kyrenia and other major cities.
Doctors admit that the surge in patients has been so significant that staff are working to exhaustion — without adequate rest, under constant pressure and stress. Delays in care for other emergency patients are becoming increasingly frequent.
The Ministry of Health confirms that flu vaccines are available, and vaccinations continue at public medical centers. Authorities urge people not to postpone vaccination, especially those who belong to high-risk groups.
