Public Toilets to Be Built on Site of Former Dome Taxi Station in Kyrenia
The Kyrenia Municipality continues its efforts to modernize and beautify the city’s public spaces. One of the latest projects includes the demolition of the old Dome taxi station, which will be replaced by a new facility featuring public toilets accessible to people with disabilities.
The announcement was made by Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul via his social media account. According to Şenkul, the previous taxi stand was not only outdated and worn down, but also poorly integrated into the city’s layout.
The new building will better match the surrounding urban landscape and will include a covered taxi station along with modern public restrooms designed with accessibility in mind.
Highlighting the lack of accessible toilet facilities in busy areas such as the city market and Kyrenia’s popular seaside promenade (Kordon), the mayor said the project aims to fill that gap.
“We’re continuing to work on areas in need of renewal and development,” Şenkul wrote. “Our goal is to make Kyrenia a more modern, inclusive, and accessible city for everyone.”
