Large shipment of illegal meat seized at markets in Kyrenia and Alsancak
Police in Northern Cyprus conducted inspections at two different markets operating in Kyrenia and Alsancak. During the supervisory activities, a large shipment of illegal meat was seized, and three individuals were arrested.
According to the police press office, as part of a simultaneous joint operation conducted at 22:30 by police, customs, tax authorities, and the veterinary department, it was found that 1987.7 kg of beef and 67.1 kg of mutton were not declared at customs.
The meat was discovered in a refrigerated warehouse. All the products were seized as physical evidence. As part of further investigation, two adult men aged 31 and 38, as well as a 12-year-old teenager, were identified and arrested as suspects in this case.
Police investigation is ongoing.
