Northern Cyprus Begins Review of TRNC 2026 Budget Proposal
The Committee on Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning of the Parliament began reviewing the draft law on the central budget of the TRNC for 2026 on November 13, 2025, in Northern Cyprus. The proposed budget amounts to 191 billion 131 million Turkish Lira (TL).
The session was opened by the committee chairperson Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay; the review of the draft will continue with a report by the Minister of Finance, Yozdemir Berova. After the minister's presentation, a general discussion will take place, followed by a line-by-line review and voting.
The committee's work is expected to continue until November 28, 2025. In the first days, the budget of the parliament itself is scheduled for review. In the following days, budgets will be discussed by day for the Civil Defense Service, judiciary, prosecution, Court of Accounts, as well as departments and ministries including the Presidential Administration, Prime Ministry Offices, BRTK, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Economy and Energy, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, and higher education institutions.
From November 25–28, the committee will review the budgets of the Police, Security Forces Command, Ministry of Interior, Public Service Commission, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture Agency and related funds. After line-by-line discussion and voting, the draft will be submitted to the General Assembly of Parliament.
