Potentially Dangerous Irish Cheese with Listeria Found in Northern Cyprus
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a recall for certain varieties of Old Irish Creamery cheddar cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. A public warning has also been extended to Northern Cyprus.
Reports suggest that these cheeses may have entered the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus through imports or private purchases. Listeria monocytogenes can pose serious health risks, particularly to pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The full list of affected products and batch numbers is available on the official FSAI website.
Consumer Advice:
- If you have Old Irish Creamery cheese at home, check the label and verify the batch number.
- Do not consume any cheese from the affected batches.
- Return recalled products to the store where they were purchased or dispose of them safely.
- If you experience flu-like symptoms, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after consuming these products, seek medical attention immediately.
Consumers in Northern Cyprus are urged to exercise caution and avoid consuming potentially unsafe products.
