Northern Cyprus Sets Official Purchase Price for Potatoes
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Soil Products Institute (TÜK) has announced the official purchase price for potatoes: 30 Turkish lira per kilogram.
This price—aligned with the expectations of local producers—was decided following meetings between TÜK President Yenal Garabli, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Agriculture Minister Hüseyin Çavuş, and TÜK’s Board of Directors.
Following these consultations, the gross purchase price for this year’s spring potatoes was set at 30 TL per kilogram. After taxes, producers will receive 28.42 TL per kilogram.
Garabli noted that TÜK remains committed to maintaining stable pricing between producers and consumers and will continue its fair pricing policies to support both sides.
TÜK General Director Kürşat Özer also wished all potato farmers a successful and productive spring harvest in 2025.
He added that all maintenance and repairs at the Famagusta potato packaging facility have been completed and the site is now ready to begin receiving crops. Recruitment for packaging staff will begin on Friday, May 30.
