Social services and local authorities in Northern Cyprus are raising the alarm over the increasing number of people facing psychosocial adaptation difficulties and in need of support. According to experts, the problem goes beyond isolated cases and requires a comprehensive solution.

Particular concern is the rise in the number of young people leaving their family environment without a stable income or housing, as well as citizens who find themselves in socially vulnerable situations. Many of them face the risk of homelessness, psychological issues, and involvement in unlawful activities.

Social services acknowledge that existing resources and assistance programs are operating at full capacity due to limited funding and staff shortages. Authorities urge residents to actively report cases where people lack support—especially when it concerns teenagers, the elderly, or people with disabilities.

Citizens are advised to contact district social protection services, hotlines, or submit anonymous reports. Social service representatives emphasize that early intervention helps prevent serious consequences and saves lives.

The official statement notes that only the joint work of government structures, municipalities, and non-profit organizations can create a sustainable support system and ensure the safety of those in difficult life situations.
