In Northern Cyprus, officials called for stronger support of tourism to boost the economy

Merit Hotels’ Public Relations Coordinator, Dr. Nazan Ulukök, appeared on the program “Yaşamın İçinden” on Kanal T and подчеркнула that tourism remains a key driver of the economy and that its contribution could be even greater if society supports it more actively.
According to her, tourists choose hotels and restaurants based on social media reviews, so a business’s digital reputation and online activity have become critically important.
Ulukök noted that casino tourism, sports tournaments, and international congresses play a key role in the economy — and that five-star hotels with casinos are currently sustaining the tourism sector.
The expert added that Cyprus could also develop new directions — conscious tourism, yachting, and other models — if the state, municipalities, and the private sector work together.
She also emphasized that the importance of corporate communications and the role of PR specialists are underestimated in the country, even though they are precisely the ones who shape the image of companies and the entire tourism sector.
