North Cyprus to Host the Arda Erkan Memorial Kitesurfing Tournament
North Cyprus will host the 10th anniversary kite surfing tournament in memory of Arda Erkan, who fell victim to drug traffickers nine years ago. The commemorative sports event will take place this year on June 29-30 at the Heaven Surf House – Yedidalga.
The event, held under the slogan “Don't let Arda die for others,” is organized under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Anti-Drug Commission with support from the Heaven Surf Club.
“Although Arda is not with us physically, he will always be with us to illuminate our youth and society with his energy,” organizers said in a statement about the event.
The event aims to “draw attention to the issue of drugs, involve families, children, and youth in sports activities, and channel their energy in the right direction.”
“We invite all kite surfers and our people to join us in this significant event to welcome Arda in the depths of the blue and contribute to the fight against drugs,” concluded the statement from Arda Erkan's family.
