Memorial ceremonies in honor of Atatürk will be held in Northern Cyprus

November 10 events dedicated to the memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk — the founder of the Republic of Turkey, who left a deep mark on world and Turkish history — will take place across the country.
At 09:05, sirens will sound throughout the country, and national flags will be lowered in mourning.
The main ceremony in Lefkoşa will begin at 09:02 at the Atatürk Monument, where government representatives will lay wreaths. After a minute of silence and the national anthem, participants will sign a memorial book.
Then at 09:30 at the Atatürk Cultural Center, an official program will be held with speeches by President Tufan Erhürman, Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, representatives of the Turkish Embassy and the Peace Forces Command. A concert and orchestra performance will be prepared by the Lefkoşa Fine Arts High School.
Similar ceremonies will be held in Kyrenia, Famagusta, Iskele, Güzelyurt, Lefke, Akdoğan, Geçitkale, and Mehmetçik. Each will include wreath-laying, a minute of silence, and the national anthem.
In Famagusta and Iskele, students will recite poems, while in Güzelyurt and Lefke, teachers and students from local schools will perform. In Akdoğan and Geçitkale, theatrical orchestra performances prepared by students will take place.
In addition, the Taekwondo Federation will organize competitions in Kyrenia. The tournament will be held at the Eurasian Taekwondo Center and will begin at 16:00.
