Another general assembly of the Dairy Products Producers Union (SÜİB) was held in Northern Cyprus
On January 17, 2026, another general assembly of the Dairy Products Producers Union (SÜİB) took place in Northern Cyprus at the Union’s office, with the participation of industry representatives.
The assembly began with the performance of the national anthem and a minute of silence, after which the presidium was formed and the Union’s chairperson delivered a speech. During the meeting, the board’s activity report, the financial report, and the audit committee’s reports were read out; they were submitted for approval and the board was discharged from liability.
As part of the general assembly, a transfer of chairmanship powers took place. Mahmut Erden, who had held the position of chairperson for a long time, voluntarily stepped down; by decision of the newly elected board and without holding elections, Meriç Avunduk became the new chairperson. The Union’s board was renewed.
The assembly was also attended by the TRNC Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş Kelle, and the Director of SÜTEK, Mehmet Karadayı, who shared their assessments of the situation in the sector.
During the discussions, issues related to the development of milk and dairy production, improving quality and efficiency, strengthening the sustainable structure of the sector, and expanding exports were addressed. The importance of cooperation and coordination between the public and private sectors to enhance competitiveness in national and international markets was emphasized. SÜİB officially announced its intention to continue working in the interests of the sector.
