Postal Workers Strike Today in Northern Cyprus
Postal workers across Northern Cyprus are staging a one-day strike today to protest the ongoing lack of staff and essential equipment in post offices.
The action is being organized by unions operating within the Postal Department, alongside civil servants’ unions from Cyprus and Turkey: KAMUSEN, KTAMS, and KAMU-İŞ.
In a joint statement, the unions expressed frustration that despite repeated efforts, no concrete measures have been taken to resolve the long-standing issues in one of the Ministry of Finance’s most profitable departments.
“These shortages—which are critical to the efficient delivery of public services—continue to affect not only our employees but also the public they serve,” the statement read.
The three unions will hold a joint press conference today at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Central Post Office in Nicosia, directly across from the courthouse. They are calling on the Prime Minister to take immediate action to address the deepening problems in the postal service.
