Animals imported without customs cleared from 86-year-old man in Northern Cyprus
An investigation has been launched in Koruçam, Northern Cyprus, after an inspection carried out on October 11, 2025, during which an 86-year-old man, A.H., was found to possess animals brought from the southern part of the island without customs clearance, the police press office reported.
During the inspection, one adult alageyik (fallow deer), ten Belgian Permih domestic rabbits, and four Abyssinian donkeys were found in A.H.’s possession.
It was determined that the animals were imported in violation of the established regulations. Legal proceedings have been initiated against A.H. under the relevant articles of the law.
The confiscated animals have been handed over to the Veterinary Service for further examination and procedures.
The investigation is ongoing.
