Six people injured in three traffic accidents in Northern Cyprus, one driver detained
Three traffic incidents on major roads in Northern Cyprus resulted in injuries to six people, two of whom were pedestrians. One driver was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Early in the morning in Gemikonağı, driver Kenan Eyri (E-26), driving a car with the number GD 798, lost control of the vehicle and hit pedestrian Zain Ul Abdin (E-22). The car then crashed into a stone wall and a light pole. The driver and the pedestrian were examined at Cengiz Topel State Hospital and released after receiving medical care.
On the Değirmenlik–Girne highway near the eastern Arapkoy junction yesterday, cars with the numbers RT 496 and DL 634 collided. RT 496 was driven by Hasan Akdemir (E-30), and DL 634 by Mert Saglar (E-30). As a result of the collision, RT 496 crashed into the trailer of the truck YH 481, driven by Khushnud Khizar (E-24). The injured Hasan Akdemir was hospitalized at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital in Lefkoşa, while Mert Saglar and passenger Sabahattin Can (E-44) were treated at Dr. Akçiçek Hospital in Girne and discharged.
In Lefkoşa, driver Ibrahim Unar (E-71), while pulling out from a parking spot, hit pedestrian Ibrahim Şişik (E-95) during a lane change. The injured man was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital. Police are investigating all three accidents.
