In Northern Cyprus, 45,214 head of livestock were vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease
Between December 19 and 27, a mass vaccination of cattle against foot-and-mouth disease was carried out in Northern Cyprus. According to the local veterinary service, 45,214 animals in 403 holdings received vaccinations.
According to Turkish-Cypriot media, during the campaign priority was given to areas with a higher risk of infection. At the same time, veterinary teams monitored the condition of the animals through blood sampling and laboratory studies to track the spread of the virus.
The local veterinary service notes that the vaccination aims to stop the spread of the disease. Monitoring and laboratory analysis help to detect potential outbreaks in a timely manner.
For residents, this means a reduced risk of livestock losses and quicker detection of disease outbreaks among farms. Owners of domestic and farm animals are advised to follow veterinary service instructions and maintain contact with local veterinary specialists.
