In Northern Cyprus, commemorating the martyrs of Çanakkale
In Northern Cyprus, on March 18th, ceremonies will be held to commemorate Victory Day and the memory of the martyrs of Çanakkale. Commemorative events will take place at the Bosphorus Martyrs' Cemetery, as well as in most districts of the country.
At the Bosphorus Martyrs' Cemetery and the Çanakkale Martyrs' Cemetery in Famagusta, the President of TRNC, Ersin Tatar, will deliver a speech.
The ceremony will begin with the laying of wreaths, a minute of silence, the national anthem, and the raising of flags. After a speech on the significance and importance of this day, the Special Book of Martyrdom will be signed.
During the ceremony, the president will be presented with soil taken from the Bosphorus Martyrs' Cemetery for burial in Anıtkabir. A capsule containing the soil will be delivered by Ersin Tatar to Metin Feyzioğlu, the Turkish Republic's envoy in Nicosia.
The ceremony at the Bosphorus Martyrs' Cemetery will conclude with the president inspecting the burial sites and laying flowers at the graves.
Ceremonies will also be held at cemeteries in Nicosia, Kyrenia, Famagusta, Güzelyurt, İskele, and Lefke. Speeches will be given, poems read, and flowers left at the martyrs' graves everywhere.
