A man detained in Northern Cyprus after pouring fuel on a car and threatening to set it on fire

In Famagusta, police detained a man suspected of making death threats and attempting to set a car on fire. According to law enforcement, he poured flammable liquid on another person’s vehicle and left a note on the windshield threatening the owner's life.
The incident occurred at around 22:30 near a residential building. The investigation determined that the suspect poured a fuel substance, presumably petrol, on the car and attached a cardboard sign with a threatening message. His actions could have caused a fire and serious damage to property.
During operational measures, police identified and arrested the suspect — a 22-year-old man with the initials S.K. He has been taken into custody, and a criminal case has been opened against him for creating danger and issuing a death threat.
The police continue the investigation, determining the motive and possible involvement of other individuals. Authorities emphasise that such actions cause serious public concern and require immediate response.
In addition, the police report for the same day mentioned other incidents: in the Beyarmudu area a man was detained for disorderly conduct and drinking alcohol in a public place, and in Dipkarpaz, two residents were arrested for illegal fishing without a permit.
Investigators expect to fully establish the circumstances of the incident in Famagusta and bring those responsible to justice in the near future.
