Cold Snap Expected to Hit Northern Cyprus
A sudden drop in temperatures is expected in Northern Cyprus over the next few days as a cold air mass moves into the region.
According to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Meteorological Department, temperatures will begin to decrease tomorrow, with a drop of 4–7°C below the seasonal average by Thursday. Coastal and inland areas are forecast to see temperatures ranging from 13–16°C.
A slight cooling has already been felt today, following last week’s extended heatwave. The temperature began to fall after the hot spell.
Forecasts predict that temperatures will start to rise again on Saturday, first returning to seasonal norms (17–20°C), and later increasing by 6–9°C above average.
A storm warning has been issued for Northern Cyprus due to strong winds.
Meteorologists have also extended the dust warning, as dust from Africa continues to affect the region. Dust levels are expected to remain high until 6:00 AM tomorrow. Residents who are sensitive to dust are advised to take precautions.
