African Dust Returns to Northern Cyprus
The TRNC Meteorology Department has once again issued an emergency warning due to dust pollution affecting the air. Fine particles have once again been blown into the region from North Africa, and they are expected to linger in the atmosphere until next Friday.
According to meteorologists, the new "dusty" warning will be in effect in the country from 3:00 PM today, May 17, until the end of the day on Friday, May 24.
"Since dust particles from North Africa are expected to cause air pollution in our region, citizens sensitive to dust are advised to be cautious," reads the department's statement.
Recall that at the end of April and the beginning of May, a dust cloud covering the island persisted in the region for more than two weeks.
