Elderly Woman Killed in Motorcycle-Truck Collision on Erçan–İskele Highway
Tragedy struck in Northern Cyprus today as an elderly woman lost her life in a collision involving her motorcycle and a truck.
According to a police statement, the accident occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. on the Erçan–İskele highway.
The victim, identified as 73-year-old İlmiza Yiğit, was riding her motorcycle near Boğaziçi when she entered the main road without yielding to oncoming traffic. This resulted in a collision with a truck heading toward İskele.
Yiğit sustained critical injuries and was immediately transported to Famagusta State Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she succumbed to her injuries.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police have detained the 37-year-old truck driver.
