New Push-Button Pedestrian Traffic Light Activated on Nicosia–Famagusta Highway
A new signal-controlled intersection featuring a pedestrian push-button traffic light is now operational on the main Nicosia–Famagusta highway, near the Demirhan area.
According to a statement from the police press office, the new traffic light system at the Demirhan–Balıkesir junction was activated at 1:00 PM today. In addition to the standard lights for vehicles, the intersection now includes a pedestrian-activated signal — a push-button system that allows people to cross the road safely when triggered.
Drivers traveling along this route are urged to pay close attention to the new traffic lights and road signs, and to exercise extra caution when approaching the newly regulated area.
This upgrade follows the recent installation of a similar pedestrian crossing light on Semih Sancar Street in Girne, which went live at the end of March.
