In the TRNC, 2,506 drivers were checked in one day: 367 held accountable

Road patrol units of the General Directorate of Police of the TRNC carried out widespread inspections of vehicles and drivers yesterday, during which 2,506 individuals were checked.

As a result of the inspections, 367 drivers were officially cited and legal proceedings were initiated against them. 81 vehicles were removed from service, and two drivers were arrested.

The breakdown of recorded violations is as follows: 101 cases of speeding, 44 driving under the influence of alcohol, 3 driving without a driver’s license and without insurance, and 14 driving without insurance. Additionally, 2 drivers were found using mobile phones while driving, 6 not wearing seat belts, 18 operating vehicles without technical inspection, and 43 without registration certificates.

Also identified were: 2 violations of traffic light signals, 5 violations of road signs and markings, 3 cases of riding a motorcycle without a protective helmet, 3 violations of vehicle headlight regulations, 1 case of window tinting restricting visibility, and 1 case of operating a vehicle with a removed muffler. The remaining 121 violations were classified as other offenses.

The police reported that inspections will be intensified and continued to ensure road safety in the TRNC.
