Assistance payments have begun: 10,813 people will receive 84.586 million lira
On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus, Ünal Üstel, announced the launch of a new material support program for the population — 10,813 citizens will receive a total of 84,586,000 lira.
According to Üstel, the funds will be distributed through the Ministry of Labor and Social Security as well as through the "Social Services Department". Of the total amount, 49,456,000 lira are allocated to preferential categories — social assistance, family protection programs, payments to families of the deceased and injured, as well as targeted payments to veterans and disabled people (a total of 4,958 individuals). Additionally, 35,130,000 lira will be given to 5,855 disability pension recipients.
Üstel emphasized that cooperation with President Ersin Tatar allowed the government to fulfill its promises and strengthen social solidarity. "We do not just speak words — we take concrete steps," said the Prime Minister.
According to him, the new assistance is designed to expand the role of the welfare state and improve the well-being of citizens, especially those in vulnerable situations.
Payments are expected to start being distributed in the coming days through official agencies. Authorities have urged recipients to follow information from the "Social Services Department" and seek consultations from the relevant ministries.
