An illegal immigrant robbed the Reproductive Health Center in Nicosia
The Reproductive Health Center in Nicosia was robbed. A man residing illegally in Northern Cyprus stole 8100 euros, 13,915 dollars, and 7,355 pounds in cash.
According to the police press service, the robber was identified thanks to surveillance cameras. Yesterday, he appeared before the court in Nicosia and was sentenced to prison for up to three months.
During the trial, it was revealed that the suspect had been illegally residing in the TRNC for 702 days since June 5, 2022. On Tuesday evening, the man broke into the Reproductive Health Center in Nicosia by removing the iron bars from the window, causing damage amounting to 7500 Turkish lira. The suspect then stole cash totaling 8100 euros, 13,915 dollars, and 7,355 pounds from a wooden box.
At the scene, broken pieces and an iron rod used by the suspect to break the glass and remove the bars were seized as physical evidence. The man was apprehended on the same day. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, stating that he had hidden the stolen money in the yard of the former State Chemical Laboratory. The money was found in the specified location and seized as physical evidence.
Assessing the evidence, the judge ruled that the suspect should remain in prison until trial, not exceeding three months.
