Despite Infrastructure Expansion, Traffic Jams Persist at Metehan Checkpoint
After the completion of the infrastructure expansion project at the Metehan checkpoint, located in the buffer zone, an improvement in traffic was expected. However, car queues still persist.
Especially during morning hours, students studying in Southern Cyprus, as well as employees heading to work, report long lines that begin forming early in the morning and stretch to the roundabout.
According to drivers, waiting times often exceed one hour, causing serious inconveniences and disrupting schedules.
No official comments from the competent authorities on the situation have been provided so far.
