The New Hospital in Güzelyurt Set to Open on November 15
The construction of the new state hospital in Güzelyurt, Northern Cyprus, has entered its fourth and final phase. The facility is expected to officially open its doors on November 15.
A groundbreaking ceremony to mark this milestone was held recently, with several high-ranking officials in attendance. Among them were the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar; Speaker of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler; Prime Minister Ünal Üstel; Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Ekrem Serim; and Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek.
The event also welcomed notable local figures, including Şinasi Özdeş, the spokesperson for the Güzelyurt Civil Society Platform, and Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, along with other dignitaries and officials.
Construction of the new Güzelyurt hospital began in 2017. The construction company has assured the Prime Minister that the hospital will be ready to serve the public by November 15.
According to Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia, a total of 151 million Turkish lira has been allocated for the project. Additionally, in 2024, Turkey allocated 1.447 billion Turkish lira to support the healthcare sector in the TRNC.
