Northern Cyprus Starts the Week with Hot and Dusty Weather
The new week in Northern Cyprus kicks off with rising temperatures, dry conditions, and dusty skies.
According to the TRNC Department of Meteorology, Monday, May 12, will bring low atmospheric pressure and warm, humid air to the region. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with no chance of rain. Temperatures are expected to rise 2–3°C above seasonal norms, ranging between 27°C and 33°C in most areas. Winds will blow from the northwest at moderate strength, with occasional strong gusts.
Meteorologists have issued three warnings for the region. First, there's a high risk of wildfires due to the dry conditions. Second, the UV index is high, so it's recommended to avoid direct sun exposure for more than 15 minutes. Lastly, a layer of dust from North Africa continues to linger in the atmosphere, reducing air quality.
