New Ferry Service from Anamur to Kyrenia Set to Begin on June 12
A new ferry service connecting Anamur to Kyrenia will commence on June 12, promising to significantly reduce travel time between Turkey and the TRNC to an average of two hours.
The Piyale Pasha sea bus, capable of accommodating 450 passengers, has already docked at the pier in the Mersin Anamur region. The inaugural ferry will depart for Northern Cyprus at 11:00, returning to Turkey at 18:00.
Captain Adnan Ketenci anticipates a travel time of 2 hours and 15 minutes from Anamur to Kyrenia.
Anamur Mayor, Durmuş Deniz, views the ferry service as a pivotal step towards elevating Anamur from a city known for agriculture and tourism to a global destination.
"We are delighted for the residents of Anamur. Anamur boasts not only agricultural significance but also serves as a haven for tourists. Our 17-kilometer coastline, caves, Mamure Castle, and the ancient city of Oren are among the region's highlights."
"I am confident that these ferry expeditions will rejuvenate tourism and agriculture in Anamur," expressed the mayor.
The ferry will operate four times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing from Anamur pier to Kyrenia port at 11:00 and returning at 18:00.
